Troubleshoot Campaign Performance
We know that campaign performance not meeting your expectations can be frustrating. Here are some possible solutions. Still have questions? Contact support.
My ads aren’t receiving any impressions
Ad status isn’t active
If your ad’s status isn’t active, your ad isn’t live on Reddit. Go to the Ads tab on the dashboard to check your ad’s status.
- Active: Your ads are approved and being delivered.
- Archived: This ad is inactive, uneditable, and being stored for record-keeping. If you’d like to remove it from your account, you can delete it. You can also unarchive it to make edits or reactivate it.
- Deleted: This ad has been removed from your account.
- Inactive: Your ads are approved but have been turned off. Turn it on to start delivering.
- Missing permissions: See why it may be missing permissions.
- Not approved: Your ad was rejected. Check the email from advertising@reddit.com for the reason. Contact support for more details or to appeal the decision.
- Not delivering: Your ads were approved but aren’t being delivered.
- Parent archived: This ad is no longer active since its parent or ad group’s parent is archived.
- Pending approval: Your ad is being reviewed by our Ad Policy team. This process may take up to 48 business hours.
Your campaign, ad group, or ad is paused
A part of your campaign may be disabled, which may prevent your ads from being shown on Reddit. Check each tab of the dashboard table to ensure all the parts of your campaign are enabled. If it’s disabled, select the toggle to get it going again.
Toggling may take a few seconds.
Ad group stopped running
Ads stop running after the end date for your ad group. To update the end date:
- Go to the dashboard and select the Ad Groups tab.
- Find your ad group and open ⋮ More Options > Edit Ad Group.
- Adjust the schedule for when you’d like your ads to run. You can remove the end date to make your ads run continuously.
- Save changes.
Ad group has spent through its budget
You may have spent all your budget if you’ve set a lifetime budget. Compare your lifetime budget in your campaign with your ad group’s lifetime spend and adjust your budget:
- Go to the dashboard and select the Campaigns tab.
- Find your campaign and open ⋮ More Options > Edit Campaign.
- Set the campaign spend cap. You can leave this empty to make it unrestricted.
- Save your changes.
- Go to the Ad Groups tab and select edit ad group in your ad group’s menu.
- Increase the budget and save your changes.
My ads are missing permissions
The ad account linked to your ads no longer has permission to use the profile. This usually happens when:
- Your profile was removed from the ad account
- Your partner business stopped sharing the profile
Check that your profile has been added to your ad account. If the profile belongs to a partner business, ensure it's still being shared.
Payment issues
Your debit or credit card is invalid, or a payment recently failed. Here’s how to update your payment method.
My campaign is running, but my impressions are low
Limited potential reach
Your campaign’s potential reach will be small if your targeting is too restrictive, which can lead to under-delivery.
Expand your ad group’s audience by adding interest or community targeting.
Date range is hiding your impressions
Adjust the date range to view all relevant metrics.
Low bids
A low bid will make your ads less competitive in the Reddit Ads auction, which means that competing advertisers could be eating up your delivery potential.
Increase your ad’s delivery potential by increasing your bids.
Low ad engagement
Even if your targeting and bids are competitive, your ad group may still underdeliver if your ads aren’t engaging redditors.
