Deceptive, Untrue, or Misleading Advertising

Principle: Don't lie or mislead Reddit or Reddit users in your ads.

Policy: Reddit prohibits advertisements that are deceptive, untrue, or misleading. Advertisers must ensure the content of their ad is verifiable and truthful.

Examples of deceptive, untrue, or misleading advertising:

  • Irresponsible use of the word “free”
  • Making exaggerated claims without proof or evidence by a reasonable basis
  • Using overly provocative or sensational content
  • Misleading or deceptive use of data
  • Promotion of malicious software
  • Unverifiable claims or statements
  • False information passed off as fact or truth 
  • Withholding information on pricing, terms, or expenses
