About Ad Unit Specifications

Help redditors discover your brand on Reddit with images, carousels, and videos. You can also add rich text with ad types like free-form ads. We recommend building your creative to our specification details and recommendations to limit truncating and cropping.

Placement types

Example: Image Ads

  • Feed: Ads appear in Home, Popular, and community feeds across Reddit. This can be used for all ad types and may look different depending on whether the redditor is in card or compact view.
  • Conversation: Ads appear on the conversation page, letting you reach redditors in the thread: diving in from their feed or joining from a web search. This can be used for all ad types. Learn about conversation ads.

Things to know

  • Combine feed and conversation to show ads across all placements and maximize performance.
  • Use the highest resolution that meets the ratio requirements for best quality. 
  • In most cases, any aspect ratio can be used but may cause formatting issues, like black bars appearing. Follow our recommendations to limit issues.
  • Text may get truncated due to factors like browser, device, and font display size.
  • Use Crop image in ad setup to streamline changing the aspect ratio and cropping of images in your ad.
  • We recommend experimenting with different ad types to see what resonates most with your audience. Learn more about our creative best practices.
  • A thumbnail will be automatically generated based on the media in your ad for all types except for freeform. You can choose to replace this by uploading a different image.
