Web Attribution
Attribution gives credit to an ad for influencing an action taken on a website, often referred to as a conversion event, like signing up or buying a product. Your attribution window is the time limit: it decides how long after someone sees or clicks an ad to give credit for that action.
Understanding attribution helps you figure out how your customers find you and which ads work best. It's like a cheat code for finding more customers, making better ads, and driving more sales. You can use first-party tools like the Reddit Pixel and Conversions API (CAPI) to share and attribute web conversions to Reddit ad campaigns.
Let's say you use the Reddit Pixel to track when people purchase by clicking Buy Now. With the default attribution window, if someone sees your ad (without clicking on it) and buys something from your site within a day, Reddit counts that as a sale thanks to the ad. But if they buy something eight days later, Reddit won't credit the ad view because it's outside the attribution window. You can play around with this window by changing your attribution settings.

Attribution type
There are two options for the attribution conversion type: click-through or view-through and click-through (the default). All your campaigns attribute conversions with the attribution type and windows you choose.
Your view window can't be longer than your click-through window. For example, if your click-through window is 7 days, you can't set a 28-day view window. Choose a longer click-through window to select a longer view window.
Attribution type | Description | Default attribution window | Available options |
---|---|---|---|
Click-through | A user clicks your ad and completes a conversion action on your site. | 28 days |
|
View-through and click-through (recommended) | A user clicks or sees your Reddit ad and completes a conversion action on your site. | 28 days (click-through) and one day (view-through) |
