Reddit Ads API Terms

These Reddit Ads API Terms (“Ads API Terms”) govern your access to and use of Reddit’s advertising APIs (“Ads APIs”) and your access to and use of any Campaign Metrics or other data, materials, metrics, or information made accessible through the Ads APIs (“Ads API Data”). These Ads API Terms are incorporated into the Reddit Advertising Services Agreement and are subject to all terms and conditions, policies, rules, and other provisions in the Ads Services Terms. Any terms that are capitalized but not defined are defined in the Ads Services Terms and/or the Developer Terms.

ARBITRATION NOTICE: YOU ARE BOUND BY THE ARBITRATION PROVISION SET FORTH IN THE REDDIT ADVERTISING SERVICES AGREEMENT. YOU ARE REQUIRED TO USE BINDING INDIVIDUAL ARBITRATION TO RESOLVE ANY DISPUTES RATHER THAN JURY TRIALS OR CLASS ACTION. UNLESS YOU OPT-OUT PURSUANT TO SECTION 18 OF THE REDDIT ADVERTISING SERVICES AGREEMENT, YOU AND REDDIT WAIVE ANY RIGHT TO RESOLVE DISPUTES IN A TRIAL, CLASS-ACTION LAWSUIT OR CLASS-WIDE ARBITRATION.

1. Your Access to and Use of the Ads APIs and Ads API Data

Your access to and use of the Ads APIs and Ads API Data is in the form of a limited, non-transferable, non-sublicensable, and revocable license. Your access to and use of the Ads APIs and Ads API Data must comply with these Ads API Terms, the Ads Services Terms, and applicable laws and regulations (including laws regarding the import or export of data or software, privacy, and data protection). 

If you access or use the Ads APIs or Ads API Data in connection with Supplemental Ads Products and Services (e.g., Conversions API and Custom Audience API) which are subject to Supplemental Ads Terms, then the applicable Supplemental Ads Terms also apply to you.

Nothing in these Ads API Terms, including your access to and use of the Ads APIs and Ads API Data, grants you any license or permission to use Reddit User Content for any purpose without obtaining consent from the Reddit user who created any applicable Reddit User Content.

2. Ads API Limitations

Reddit may set and enforce limits on your use of the Ads APIs (e.g., limiting the number of API requests that you may make) at any time in its sole discretion. Reddit may change the applicable limits set forth in the Ads APIs Developer Documentation at any time in its sole discretion and without notice.

3. Your App and App Content

If you access or use the Ads APIs and/or Ads API Data in connection with developing or offering an App (e.g., an App enabling Advertisers to manage their advertising campaigns both on the Ads Platform and other online platforms), you agree that:

• You will ensure that your App Users comply with these Ads API Terms; and
• If you use Access Info provided to you by Reddit to generate tokens for your App Users, you will not use tokens generated for one App User when acting on behalf of a different App User.

Reddit may require you to submit your App for Reddit’s review and approval at Reddit’s sole discretion, including prior to releasing or otherwise making your App available to your App Users. You will cooperate and promptly provide information relevant to any requests from Reddit in connection with such review and approval. If your App is subject to prior review by Reddit, you will not release or otherwise make your App available to your App Users without Reddit’s approval.

In addition to the audit rights set forth in the Developer Terms, you agree to cooperate and promptly provide information relevant to any requests from Reddit or its third-party auditors in connection with any audit. You will remediate any non-compliance with these Ads API Terms or the Ads APIs Developer Documentation as soon as reasonably practicable. Reddit may continue to monitor your access to and use of the Ads APIs and Ads API Data and conduct additional audits to confirm you have remedied any non-compliance. If an audit reveals any non-compliance by you or third parties engaged by you, you agree to promptly pay Reddit the full cost of such audit and the costs of any follow-up audits.

4. Campaign Management

You may use the Ads APIs to initiate, modify, and/or manage Ads on the Ads Platform, facilitate the intake of Ads API Data into your App, or otherwise access the Ads Services (“Campaign Management”). Your use of the Ads APIs and Ads API Data for Campaign Management must comply with these Ads API Terms and the Ads Services Terms.

If you use the Ads APIs or Ads API Data for Campaign Management on behalf of Advertisers, you further agree that:

• You will bind the Advertisers to these Ads API Terms and the Ads Services Terms, and you are responsible for Advertisers’ compliance with these Ads API Terms and all other applicable Ads Services Terms;
• You will obtain the necessary rights from Advertisers to grant Reddit any necessary licenses and clearances to use Advertisers’ Ads and Ads Materials as described in the Ads Services Terms; and
• You will not share Ads API Data pertaining to an applicable Advertiser with any other Advertiser or other third party.

5. Restrictions

You will not, and will not attempt to, or permit or enable a third party to (including through your App):

• Reverse engineer, decompile, disassemble or translate the Ads APIs or otherwise derive the source code from any Ads APIs or any part thereof, except to the extent that this restriction is expressly prohibited by applicable laws or regulations;
• Circumvent or exceed limitations on calls and use of the Ads APIs as outlined in the Ads APIs Developer Documentation, or otherwise use the Ads APIs in a manner that would disrupt or unreasonably interfere with the Ads APIs;
• Interfere with, modify, disrupt, or disable features or functionality of the Ads APIs, including any mechanism used to restrict or control functionality, or defeat, avoid, bypass, remove, deactivate or otherwise circumvent any software protection or monitoring mechanism of the Ads APIs;
• Use the Ads APIs with the intent of introducing any viruses, worms, defects, Trojan horses, malware, or any other items of a destructive nature;
• Combine Ads API Data with any third-party data or content received from any other Reddit service or product (e.g., Reddit’s Data APIs) for any purpose;
• Access or transmit any personal data except as expressly permitted by the Reddit Business Tool Terms or Ads APIs Developer Documentation;
• Publish Ads API Data externally (including in Ads or Ads Materials) or disclose Ads API Data to any third party (including any other Advertiser or Agency, affiliate, ad network, ad exchange, or ad broker), unless expressly approved by Reddit in writing;
• Use Ads API Data to create supplemental profiles of any Reddit user or to retarget or reengage any Reddit user;
• Make any attempt to reidentify any individual or unique device based on Ads API Data; or
• Use Ads API Data to derive personal information from, or merge personal information with, any non-personal data made available by Reddit (e.g., by combining Ads API Data with Reddit User Content).

6. Fees

Reddit reserves the right to charge fees for your future use of or access to any Ads API or Ads API Data, with the rate of any such fees to be determined at Reddit's sole discretion. If you are interested in using the Ads APIs in excess of published rate limits or for any use that is not expressly permitted under these Ads API Terms, please contact your Reddit account manager to obtain permission. We may require you to enter into a separate agreement with Reddit.

7. Security

Ads API Data is Confidential Information and is subject to all confidentiality obligations under the Ads Services Terms and Developer Terms. In addition to all other confidentiality obligations, you will: (i) maintain a publicly available method of reporting any security deficiencies; and (ii) promptly complete any security questionnaires that Reddit may provide to you and promptly respond to any inquiries by Reddit.

If you are accessing or using the Ads APIs on behalf of a third party (e.g., you are an agency or are providing Campaign Management services to an Advertiser), you may not share Ads API Data pertaining to an applicable Advertiser with any other Advertiser or other third party.

8. Suspension, Termination, and Modification

Reddit may revoke or suspend your use of and access to all or part of the Ads APIs and Ads API Data at any time in its sole discretion. 

You may discontinue your use of the Ads APIs at any time by no longer accessing the Ads APIs.

Upon any suspension or termination of your use of and access to the Ads APIs and Ads API Data, or your decision to discontinue your use of the Ads APIs, you will delete any Ads API Data in your possession or control and confirm such deletion in writing to Reddit upon Reddit’s request.
